The Team

Madsen Marcellus was born and raised in Haiti before migrating to the United States at the age of twelve. At thirteen, he discovered a deep passion for football, which became a defining aspect of his identity. His dedication to the sport earned him a scholarship to the University of Wyoming, where he was named an All-Conference Defensive Back in 1992. After his senior year, Mr. Marcellus faced an academic setback, resulting in academic probation—a difficult period that brought self-doubt and uncertainty. However, his journey is one of resilience, defined by his ability to overcome obstacles and find strength in adversity. Determined to rebuild his future, he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Florida International University and later obtained a Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida. Yet, his path was not without hardship. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was suspended from practicing law in Florida, a challenge that led to a battle with depression. Refusing to let adversity define him, Mr. Marcellus pursued a new path, enrolling at St. Thomas University in Miami to explore a career in educational leadership. He successfully earned a master’s degree and is now completing his PhD at the same institution.
